In Japan, RRR has completed fifteen weeks of box office operation and has earned more than Rs. 50 crores at this point. The Ram Charan and NTR-starring action epic, directed by SS Rajamouli, was published in Japan in October of the previous year. Since then, it has maintained consistent levels of collection for weeks, and it recently announced a significant increase in collections due to anticipation surrounding the upcoming awards season.
Since its debut, the film’s fifteenth week has been the most successful since it experienced a significant increase, earning over JPY 121 million, surpassing its previous high of JPY 110 million in the fourteenth week.
RRR is up for the 46th Japan Academy Film Prize’s “Best Foreign Language Film” award alongside the Hollywood productions Top Gun: Maverick, Spider-man: No Way Home, Avatar: The Way of Water, and CODA. A victory there might significantly increase the movie’s market share. The winners will be revealed on March 10th of next month.

No one expected RRR to score big at the Japanese box office when it was released, and some even commented that releasing RRR in Japan was a waste of time. But it surpassed everyone’s expectations and is on the way to cross the collections of KGF 2 with a good margin, and it will become all time Top 3 grosser after Dangal Baahubali 2.
